O’Neill joy at Meyler debut

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has hailed David Meyler’s sunny outlook after seeing the midfielder make his full international debut.

Meyler played the full 90 minutes for Ireland against Oman on Wednesday to earn a first senior cap.

It was a sweet moment for the 23-year-old, who battled back from serious injuries to force his way into the first-team scene at Sunderland.
