St Ledger to stay at Foxes

Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger remains a Leicester City player as reports of a move failed to materialise.

St Ledger to stay at Foxes

St Ledger was linked with a transfer to Scottish champions Celtic, as well as to Leeds, but remains at the Walkers Stadium.

Some other Irishmen were on the move last night, however.

Hull completed the signing of Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn for an undisclosed fee.

Quinn has signed a three-year deal with the Tigers, ending a seven-year spell at the Blades. Quinn’s performances saw him named in last year’s PFA League One Team of the Year.

Crystal Palace signed Damien Delaney, who left Ipswich Town by mutual consent earlier this week.

The 31-year-old Corkman has signed a short-term deal at Selhurst Park.

The Ireland defender is looking forward to linking up with Palace after seeing manager Dougie Freedman in action.

“I’m really impressed, I’ve come here this morning, seen the training ground and trained for the first time,” Delaney told the Crystal Palace website.

“I knew two or three of the lads so they made me feel welcome straight away. The manager’s enthusiasm you can see in his training sessions. That’s what I want to get on board with. It just felt right.”

Elsewhere, Birmingham City’s Adam Rooney has moved to Paulo di Canio’s Swindon on loan, while Swindon defender Paul Caddis moved in the other direction.
