Early goals lift Wexford
Wexford Youths opened impressively and two goals inside the opening 12 minutes rocked the visitors.
The opening goal arrived in the tenth minute when Danny Furlong slotted home a breaking ball inside the area, while two minutes later the visitors’ defence once again were caught flat-footed, leaving Joey Mulcahy time to find the net from ten metres.
The visitors pulled a goal back on 19 minutes when Enda Curran fired a low shot across keeper Graham Doyle into the opposite corner of the net.
The home side’s dominance continued, however, and Furlong made it 3-1 seven minutes before the break.
In a dreadful second half, a 69th minute Mulcahy effort that went in off the underside of the crossbar made it 4-1 for the home side, with the visitors failing to threaten.
