Foley heads Limerick three points clear

Limerick FC opened up a three point lead at the top of the First Division with a hard-earned win over bottom-of-the-table Salthill Devon Galway at Jackman Park last night.

Foley heads Limerick three points clear

Dom Foley secured the points for Pat Scully’s side with a glancing header from a Rory Gaffney long throw-in in the 82nd minute.

Limerick went close earlier when captain Pat Purcell headed over following a cutback from Rory Gaffney from a Shane Tracy free-kick ten minutes after the break.

Galway’s Damian O’Reilly had an effort ruled out of offside in the 35th minute, while Sean Brosnan saw his low drive brilliantly saved by James Keane at the other end.

Foley’s strike arrived as Limerick fans were getting frustrated about the number of visiting players seeking medical attention in the final 20 minutes. Six minutes injury-time was played.
