Athlone save point

Athlone Town and Finn Harps played out an entertaining draw at Lissywoollen last night.

Athlone save point

The first half was a largely lifeless affair and it was no surprise that the breakthrough came from a set-piece. A Tommy Bonner free-kick from the right wing was punched clear by Pat Jennings, only for the ball to fall kindly to an unmarked Aaron O’Hagan, who volleyed home from 12 yards.

Athlone equalised with a great move early in the second half, substitute Noel McGee finishing well after Mark Sherlock played him in with a beautiful overhead pass.
