Longford frustrated

Leaders Longford Town dropped two valuable points after drawing with Wexford Youths at Ferrycarrig Park last night.

Longford came under early pressure with Wexford forcing three successive corners inside the opening two minutes while a Danny Furlong effort was tipped over by keeper Craig Hyland.

They took a deserved lead in the 22nd minute. Brian Nolan was bowled over by Mark Salmon, leaving Furlong to tuck the penalty away.

Longford got back level in the 53rd minute when sub Daniel Purdy powered in a 25-yard free-kick.

A minute later Wexford had Aidan Keenan red-carded but they held out for the draw
