They may have saved their best for last but when your best isn’t good enough to claim so much as a draw it tends to lose it’s sense of worth and Keith Andrews summed up the sense of frustration better than anyone in the dying moments.

Sent off for a second yellow card, the midfielder booted the ball into the crowd before storming down the tunnel.

Some have criticised him but it was hardly Joey Barton behaviour from one of the few Irish players who performed admirably in this tournament.
