Pole loses temper — and TV after rant

The man from Sosnowiec was so furious when midfielder Alan Dzagoev headed home just before half-time in Tuesday’s Euro 2012 match that he simply hurled his telly out of the window, where it crashed to the ground and exploded. Thankfully nobody was hurt, although neighbours called police: they were on the scene within minutes and arrested the as-yet-unnamed 46-year-old, described by witnesses as “uncooperative and heavily drunk”.

That meant he missed the second half, and therefore Jakub Blaszczykowski’s cracking equaliser with just over half an hour remaining that kept alive the Poles’ hopes of making it through the group stage.
