McPake can be cup hero
Hibs are big outsiders but captain James McPake — signed by Fenlon on loan in January — hopes for a win against the Jambos today so supporters can end the 110-year wait to win the trophy. “It’s something that spurs us on, but on the day we will not be thinking about that 110 years, we’ll just be thinking about that 90 minutes, or 90 minutes plus extra-time,” McPake said.
“That’s our chance to wipe away all the 110 years of history and make us heroes at this football club.”
Hearts midfielder Ian Black will use the final at Hampden as his own personal showcase.
The 27-year-old midfielder’s contract at the Tynecastle club will not be renewed so he will feature for his boyhood heroes for the last time in the biggest Edinburgh derby of all, not knowing where he will be playing his football next season.
“The final is a big game for me to put myself in the window and hopefully somebody will come and offer me something,” he said. “I cannot wait, it is the biggest game of the season for me and the fans as well.”
