Cash-strapped Mons’ fan plea
The Airtricity Premier Division club engaged in emergency meetings with fans on Tuesday night after their failure to attract a shirt sponsor for the season led to a financial shortfall.
Club chairman Jim McGlone told supporters at an open meeting that the club’s accounts, which were sent to the FAI to receive their licence at the start of the season, had budgeted for the sponsor. However, despite negotiations with six different suitors, each potential sponsor has pulled out.
