Blues eye move to iconic landmark
The Blues announced plans to build âone of the most iconic football stadiums in the worldâ yesterday. The 60,000-seater ground, which would take between three and four years to construct, would include the power stationâs four chimneys and other aspects of the existing structure as part of the design.
Chelsea are not the only bidders for the site, which was valued at ÂŁ500m (âŹ615m) in October and was put up for sale two months later amid an administration saga. The Blues maintain they have yet to decide whether to relocate but insist it is not economically viable to redevelop Stamford Bridge.
âOur joint bid was submitted in accordance with the sales process established by the joint administrators for the site,â a statement read.
âWe are not the only interested parties and there is no certainty that we will be successful.
âWorking with architects and planning experts, we have developed a plan to preserve all the significant aspects of Battersea Power Station.â
