Delaney on reconnaissance

Irish eyes remain firmly focused on continuing preparations for the upcoming UEFA European Championships, with FAI chief executive, John Delaney, due to visit the squad’s pre-tournament training base of Montecatini in Italy tomorrow.

Following the debacle of Saipan in the run-up to the World Cup ten years ago, it’s known that the FAI are especially anxious that, this time, everything runs smoothly at the squad’s Italian training camp and then at their tournament base in Gdynia in Poland.

The Irish squad will be based in Montecatini, near Florence, for one week from May 27 to June 3, before flying to Budapest for a friendly against Hungary and then on the Poland for the tournament.
