Trap confirms McClean debut

James McClean’s Sunderland honeymoon might have come to an abrupt halt at West Brom on Saturday but the Derry winger is all set to bounce back for the Republic of Ireland against the Czech Republic at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday.

Trap confirms McClean debut

Giovanni Trapattoni, who attended that 4-0 spanking for the Black Cats at the Hawthorns, has confirmed that McClean will make his Republic of Ireland debut against the Czechs, thus completing a managerial U-turn which began with the rising star originally being left out of the latest squad.

“Saturday was not a beautiful day, not just for him but for all the team,” said Trapattoni following Irish squad training in Malahide yesterday.
