Milan mull over move for City’s unwanted tearaway Tevez

THE Carlos Tevez saga took yet another twist yesterday with his representative, Kia Joorabchian holding talks with AC Milan over a potential move.

Tevez is out of favour at Manchester City since his spectacular bust-up with manager Roberto Mancini, who accused him of refusing to warm up when asked to come off the bench in a Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. He is expected to exit Eastlands in the January transfer window after his failure to report for training following the suspension meted out by City.

The Argentinian international, 27, is high risk and high maintenance but with AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano having to undergo heart surgery and out until the end of the season, Milan may move for Tevez.

Tevez himself would also prefer a move a sunnier climate, which Italy would provide. However City will want a permanent deal, not a loan.

On Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the defending Serie A champions, who went down 3-2 at home to Barcelona in the Champions League this week but still progressed, were keen to talk to Tevez. And yesterday it emerged in Italy that Iranian-born British businessman Joorabchian had been in a meeting with Rossoneri chief executive Adriano Galliani over a potential loan deal for Tevez.

Tevez was fined a record £1 million (€1.1m) by City after he was accused of refusing to come on as a substitute during the match in Munich, with a PFA challenge successfully halving the sanction after he was found guilty of a lesser charge of declining to warm up when asked to by coach Roberto Mancini. Tevez then took on unsanctioned trip to Argentina, failing to return following the international break much to City’s anger and the PFA’s embarrassment.
