CORK CITY’S bid to win automatic promotion to the Premier Division received a major boost on Saturday with a four-goal blitz of Salthill Devon in Drom.

First-half goals from Graham Cummins, Gearóid Morrissey and Vinny Sullivan gave Tommy Dunne’s side a significant cushion at the break before Ian Turner fired home a fourth 15 minutes from time.

Cork City’s win was all the more crucial as Shelbourne — who City meet on the last day of the season — lost 1-0 away to Waterford.
