Bailed Yeung to keep backing Blues – Pannu

CARSON YEUNG has assured Birmingham he will continue to provide his backing for the club despite facing five charges of money laundering amounting to €65.2 million in his native Hong Kong.

Blues acting chairman Peter Pannu flew out to Hong Kong to hold talks with Yeung who has been released on bail until August 11.

Pannu insists Yeung will continue to show his support for City and that he hopes to attend the opening game of the season on August 6 against Derby.

Yeung had to surrender his passport under the terms of his bail agreement.

Pannu said: “I have met with Carson and have an assurance his support for the club continues. He will visit once some priorities are sorted out in Hong Kong, hopefully for our first game.”

The charges against Yeung relate to the period 2001 to 2007 — two years before he became Birmingham’s major shareholder with a 26.31% stake.

Pannu insisted any players would be sold only with the approval of new manager Chris Hughton.

He said: “Reasonable but only market (value) offers will be considered and with the agreement of our new manager.”
