Dog days over for ‘disgraced’ Donny’s mascot

A HAIRDRESSER said yesterday she has been sacked as the Donny Dog mascot for Doncaster Rovers football club after she took part in a raunchy photoshoot for a Sunday newspaper.

Mother-of-three Tracy Chandler, 40, said she has been sent an email by the Championship side saying they no longer require her services.

Ms Chandler said Rovers have told her she has “disgraced the club” but she says she is going to fight to be reinstated.

Ms Chandler has appeared as Donny Dog at the club’s Keepmoat Stadium and at other events for about three years.

She believes she is the only female mascot in the top four divisions of English football.

The storm began when Ms Chandler posed in her underwear with the Donny Dog costume in an adult-orientated Sunday paper.

She admits she did not tell the club what she was doing but stressed it was “tastefully done” and that the paper donated all the money to the NSPCC.

Ms Chandler said: “I’m absolutely devastated. I’ve not stopped crying all morning. It just said that they didn’t need my services any more and that I’d disgraced the club.”

She told the station she was “disgusted” by what has happened to her.

“I’ve raised a lot of money for charity. I’ve fetched Donny Dog out of hiding.

“I’m the one who pushed him into the charities,” she said.

A spokesman for Doncaster Rovers said the club would not be commenting on the matter.
