Nasri refuses to rule out United move

SAMIR NASRI has cast fresh doubt over his Arsenal future by admitting he may not sign a new contract and even refusing to play down the prospect of defecting to Manchester United.

Nasri’s is entering the final year of his deal and the Gunners may be forced to cash in this summer if he refuses to agree an extension.

France team-mate and United left-back Patrice Evra last week urged Nasri to join him at Old Trafford.

And the 23-year-old midfielder has done nothing to ease any fears Arsenal fans might have ahead of his country’s friendly against Poland tomorrow.

Nasri said: “I don’t know if I will sign a new contract. Anyway, the discussions are ongoing. For the moment, I don’t think about this. We will speak about it after the match with Poland.

“Do I want to go to Man United? First, we should see if it’s real and if it is concrete.”

The loss of Nasri would be a huge blow to Arsenal, with the midfielder undoubtedly the star of the first half of the Premier League season.

Meanwhile Scott Parker has confirmed he will tell Sam Allardyce he needs to quit West Ham for the sake of his England career when the pair return from holiday.

Parker will hold talks with the new Hammers boss to discuss his future, which he admitted must lie in the Premier League if he is to keep his international place.

“That where everyone wants to play, in the Premier League, and I’m no different. I’m sure he’ll give me a call and we’ll go through things.”

Parker’s departure from West Ham appeared a foregone conclusion the moment they were relegated.

There will be so shortage of suitors for the Footballer of the Year, with Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal all linked with him.

“I think my main focus was having a rest and just shutting the body down, really,” he said. “It’s been a long, hard season for the majority of the players in there. So, looking forward to getting away with the family and just chilling out a little bit.”

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has revealed the club’s owner, Sheikh Mansour, has told him he may leave if he wants to.

The Argentina international is continually being linked with a move away from England, with several of Europe’s biggest clubs paying close attention to his situation, and it is also understood that he would like to return to play football in his home nation with Boca Juniors.

Tevez has insisted that his allegiances lie with the club’s owner, rather than with the manager or chief executive Garry Cook, someone he openly dislikes.

Speaking to The News of the World, Tevez said: “He [Mansour] signed me, he wants to keep me but, at the same time, he has told me to do whatever I need to do to be happy.

“He has told me, ‘If you want to leave, then you can go’. There is no deadline — it’s down to me.

“They offered me a new contract in December but I didn’t want to extend it.

“At the end of the season they offered me another new deal but at the moment I don’t know whether I will accept it.’’

About six months ago, the 27-year-old handed in a transfer request, a decision that appeared to come out of the blue with little light being cast on the situation; however Tevez claims he doesn’t regret the request.

He put all the blame on Cook after he apparently failed to deliver on promises, and also says he does not intend to talk to Cook ever again.

“I have no regrets whatsoever about my transfer request,” he explained. “It was a situation that some people [Cook] on the board created. They promised something for six months and didn’t deliver.

“So, after six months of promises, they don’t do something — why should I believe them now? I don’t. I will never speak to these people [Cook] again. I still feel the same way.

“I have principles and I will never speak with them — never. They have tried to speak with me but I will never talk with them. There is no way, it is not possible. I deal direct with Sheikh Mansour, no one else.’’
