AIDEN McGEADY says that Armenia’s progress in Group B should act as a wake-up call for anyone expecting Ireland to have it all their own way against Macedonia at the Aviva Stadium.

Armenia are joint second on seven points with Ireland and, with the former at home to leaders Russia before the latter kick off against Macedonia, Saturday is shaping up to be a potentially pivotal day in the qualifying campaign.

“It’s a very, very tight group,” says the Spartak Moscow man. “Before, you would have thought Armenia are a team you’d expect to beat but we beat them in the first game and everyone was saying it was a bad result because we only won 1-0.
