REPUBLIC of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni looks set to be without key defender John O’Shea for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia next week after the defender was forced off injured last night.

O’Shea limped off in the 35th minute and appears to have suffered a hamstring injury, only for his replacement Rafael to suffer the same problem late on.

O’Shea was a certain starter for the crucial qualifying clash, and adds to Trapattoni’s defensive worries, with Aston Villa’s Richard Dunne already a doubt.
