Starlet calls on Latics to ‘kick on’

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND midfielder James McCarthy was a happy man after notching a brace to help Wigan secure a vital North West derby win over Blackburn.

Wigan edged a seven-goal thriller at the DW Stadium to record their first league win in eight attempts to climb two clear of the drop zone.

McCarthy said he was pleased to have scored but the victory was what mattered most.
