Starlet calls on Latics to ‘kick on’
Wigan edged a seven-goal thriller at the DW Stadium to record their first league win in eight attempts to climb two clear of the drop zone.
McCarthy said he was pleased to have scored but the victory was what mattered most.
“The most important thing was to get the three points and we went and did that,” he said.
“We know we’re good enough to play in the Premier League and stay in this league. We’ve got a good enough squad and it’s just about getting results. Today that’s a start and hopefully now we can kick on.”
