Furious Holloway to appeal fine

BLACKPOOL manager Ian Holloway intends to appeal against his £25,000 (€29,000) fine for fielding a weakened side after revealing his offer of resignation was turned down by chairman Karl Oyston.

Last week the Seasiders were punished by the Premier League for putting out an under-strength team in their 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa in November. However, Holloway — who went through with his promise to tender his resignation if he was punished — has vowed to fight the fine as he is “incensed”.

“I am totally confused as to the rules, who is making them and why I am a football manager and I’m not allowed to manage,” he said.
