Trap hails female match official

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI has sided with the angels in the Sky Sports sexism row.

In contrast to the scorn poured on assistant referee Sian Massey by the Sky duo of Andy Gray and Richard Keys, Trapattoni yesterday hailed her display at Molineux on Saturday as “perfect” — though he couldn’t resist also speaking approvingly of her looks.

“I saw this game and her display was very perfect,” he said. “She’s also beautiful. The commentator said that her decision on the first Liverpool goal was a mistake but it was not. Ability is ability. We try female officials also in Italy but in Italy they are not ready because the fans throw things at them.”
