Redknapp: Beckham move is a no-brainer

IT may surprise a lot of people that David Beckham should want to try his luck once more in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, but if anyone can get the best out of the former England captain, it is Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp: Beckham move is a no-brainer

The Spurs manager has never shirked an opportunity to give ageing or out-of-favour players a second chance. Remember how he reinvented Paolo di Canio as a star at West Ham, after the Italian was made a football pariah after being banned for 11 matches back in the ‘90s? Or how he resurrected the careers of Teddy Sheringham and Kanu at Portsmouth, long after everyone else said they were finished?

Even this season, at Spurs, he has given Rafael van der Vaart a new lease of life after the Dutchman’s dismal time at Real Madrid, and also gone against the advice of almost everybody to sign William Gallas from Arsenal. The Frenchman has been turning in faultless displays week after week to show Arsene Wenger he was wrong to let him go.
