WHEN Arsenal’s Invincibles went an entire season undefeated in 2003-04, most critics agreed it was an achievement unlikely to be repeated and, given the increasingly unpredictable nature of the Premier League few have changed their minds.

But as Manchester United prepare to face Arsene Wenger’s side at Old Trafford tonight the carrot of matching Arsenal’s greatest achievement is still, astonishingly given their rather unconvincing form, dangling in front of them.

While Arsenal, who went into the weekend top of the table, have already lost four times in the league this campaign, United are unbeaten both in the Premier League and in Europe and haven’t lost a league game since Chelsea won 2-1 at Old Trafford in April.
