MANCHESTER UNITED will avoid the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Valencia and finish top of Group C; but, as so often this season, it is hard not to feel a little underwhelmed.

United are currently unbeaten both in the Premier League and Champions League and on statistics alone, we should be talking about this as potentially one of the great seasons at Old Trafford.

But after Anderson scored a rare goal after 62 minutes to equalise Pablo Hernandez’s 32nd-minute opener there was still a lack of at enthusiasm at Old Trafford.
