IT was no classic at White Hart Lane, but the hard-fought draw between Tottenham and Everton provided a classic goal in the shape of a Leighton Baines free-kick for the visitors.

While the attention was on Gareth Bale after the Welshman’s superb hat-trick against Inter Milan in the San Siro last Wednesday, it was the opposing left-back who provided a magical finish at White Hart Lane, curling a peach of a free-kick up and over the Spurs wall.

It was as good as anything Bale could produce, yet it was only the eighth time this season that a goal has been scored direct from a free-kick in the Premier League.
