IT’S funny how things work out.

This time last year, Mark Hughes was in charge of Manchester City as they began a run of seven consecutive Premier League draws, which ultimately led to his dismissal.

On Saturday, he watched his Fulham team draw their sixth game of the season with a hard-fought point at West Ham. But instead of looking over his shoulder to the director’s box, he was instead full of the joys of life.
