Crestfallen Kewell, who lasted just 24 minutes of Australia’s 1-1 draw against Ghana on Saturday before being sent off for deliberate handball, yesterday condemned referee Roberto Rosetti as being the “executioner” who “killed” his World Cup dream.

The Socceroos forward, who now plays for Galatasaray in Turkey, vehemently contested the decision after stopping a fierce shot on the line from Ghana’s Jonathan Mensah, but was given his marching orders before Asamoah Gyan slid home the ensuing penalty to cancel out Brett Holman’s earlier strike.
