LIAM BRADY says the FAI need not look beyond Marco Tardelli when Giovanni Trapattoni’s spell in charge of the Republic of Ireland comes to an end.

Brady quit his position as Trapattoni’s assistant to concentrate on his role as Head of Youth Development at Arsenal in the aftermath of the Republic of Ireland’s ultimately unsuccessful tilt at qualification for the World Cup finals.

He believes 71-year-old Trapattoni is healthy enough to lead Ireland in the qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup but says should he step down before then Tardelli is ‘‘a ready-made replacement’’.
