DUTCHMAN Dick Advocaat yesterday confirmed he is talks to become the new manager of the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2012 qualifying opponents, Russia.

On Thursday, the Dutchman unexpectedly resigned as coach of Belgium barely six months after taking the role.

And Advocaat, who also coaches Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar, revealed yesterday that he has held talks with the Russian Football Federation about becoming Guus Hiddink’s successor.
