Murphy replaces Murphy

IPSWICH goalkeeper Brian Murphy has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for next week’s friendly against Brazil in London.

The 26-year-old has been drafted in by manager Giovanni Trapattoni following the withdrawal of Scunthorpe’s Joe Murphy with a wrist injury.

The former Bohemians ‘keeper received his first senior international call-up for the World Cup play-off against France. He joins Shay Given and Keiren Westwood in the squad for the game at the Emirates Stadium next Tuesday evening.
