The Bhoys chalked up their first Group C win of the campaign on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Georgios Samaras and Barry Robson, although it was not enough to prevent them crashing out of the tournament with one game remaining.

After dropping out of the Champions League and the Co-operative Insurance Cup already, another early exit was not what boss Tony Mowbray needed, but it was tempered by last weekend’s return to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with a convincing 3-1 home win over St Mirren.
