Staunton appointed Darlington manager

DARLINGTON have appointed former Ireland coach Steve Staunton as their new manager.

The club have also installed former England star Kevin Richardson as his assistant.

Staunton will take over tomorrow after Darlington’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Leeds, until the end of the current season. The pair will take charge for Saturday’s league game at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Club chairman Raj Singh said: “We’re excited about the prospect of working with someone with vast experience in the game and a wealth of contacts.”
