‘Fed up’ Wenger dismisses transfer war-chest claims
With the Gunners having failed to win a trophy since the FA Cup in 2005 supporters have grown increasingly frustrated at the club’s inability to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool when it comes to signing the world’s best players.
Despite spending a combined tally of £38 million (€45m) on French midfielder Samir Nasri, Russian star Andrei Arshavin and Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen in the last 12 months Wenger has been accused of being too frugal in the transfer window with some critics claiming his policy of nurturing young talent will prevent Arsenal from winning major honours.
