MANCHESTER UNITED will be able to bask in the glory of a “very good day indeed” if Cristiano Ronaldo’s €94m transfer to Real Madrid goes through, according to a leading football finance expert.

The Premier League champions finally entertained the Spaniards’ long pursuit of the winger when they accepted a world-record bid.

It is bound to be interpreted, in some quarters, as a shift in power from Old Trafford to the Bernabeu – where newly reinstalled president Florentino Perez has already lured Brazilian superstar Kaka for €56m this week.
