EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has attempted to soften the blow of Arsenal’s crushing Champions League exit by pledging his future to the north Londoners.

The Togolese striker’s attempt to engineer a move last August has been cited by manager Arsene Wenger as one of the reasons for Arsenal’s poor start to the season and he had been widely expected to launch another bid to leave this summer, with AC Milan his most likely destination.

But Adebayor, 25, has moved to dampen speculation by insisting he wants to repay a debt of gratitude to Wenger, who plucked him from relative obscurity with Monaco in 2006.
