Irish lead Royals rout of Watford

IRISH duo Noel Hunt and Kevin Doyle were both on the scoresheet as Reading closed to within four points of Championship leaders Wolves last night after a comprehensive win over struggling Watford.

Chris Armstrong’s first goal for Reading on 38 minutes gave Steve Coppell’s side a half-time lead.

And Hunt and Doyle wrapped up the points with two goals in the space of 60 seconds midway through the second half.

First Hunt fired home his 12th league goal of the season on 67 minutes, clinically dispatching a Jimmy Kebe knockdown from close range.

Sixty seconds later Doyle grabbed his 17th of the season when he converted a Liam Rosenior cross from three yards.

Leroy Lita put the icing on the cake when he grabbed Reading’s fourth two minutes from time.
