‘Berbatov won’t get Sol treatment’

TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp is confident Dimitar Berbatov will not receive the same level of abuse as Sol Campbell if the Manchester United striker is fit for his return to White Hart Lane.

‘Berbatov won’t get Sol treatment’

Berbatov left Spurs on transfer-deadline day after demanding a move to Old Trafford and is set for a hostile reception if he overcomes an Achilles injury.

Earlier this season Spurs fans targeted Portsmouth’s Campbell, but Redknapp insists that was a different situation to Berbatov’s.

“Berbatov might get some stick but he won’t get the type of abuse Sol got, which was definitely out of order. Alex would tell them that there is only one way to keep them quiet and that is to put it in the back of the net.”

Redknapp is hoping skipper Ledley King will be fit and he also insisted winger Aaron Lennon is not for sale despite reports former Spurs boss Juande Ramos wants to take him to Real Madrid. Neither is he willing to listen to offers for striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. He said: “He’s a quality player. How can I be unloading anyone?”

With on-loan Fraizer Campbell ineligible to face his parent club, Pavlyuchenko or Darren Bent are likely to start with Luka Modric playing as support forward.
