Roy awaits referee’s report

ROY KEANE will discover today whether he really was sent off against Chelsea and if he is likely to face any further repercussions.

Sunderland manager Referee Martin Atkinson asked Keane to sit in the stands for the second half of Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge after complaining bitterly about a foul on Pascal Chimbonda by Joe Cole in the build-up to Chelsea’s third goal. But the former Ireland captain does not believe he was officially red carded and confirmation will only arrive when Atkinson’s match report arrives at the FA this morning.

“I don’t think I was sent off,” he said. “You will have to ask the referee. I just questioned him. I think under this Respect campaign every manager has the right to ask an official about decisions.
