Heskey ‘a different player’, says Capello

FABIO CAPELLO admits it took time for him to be won over by the attributes of Emile Heskey but the England head coach insisted the Wigan striker was now “a different player” compared to the one he witnessed last season.

Capello watched the former Liverpool star in action on three occasions for the Latics after replacing Steve McClaren and saw nothing to convince him that Heskey would have a key role to play in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.

But then Capello’s mindset changed after he witnessed him in action at the start of this season against West Ham.
