Luton send Plymouth crashing

LUTON put aside their ongoing problems to knock Championship side Plymouth out of the Carling Cup with a 2-0 win last night.

Rossi Jarvis (15) put the stricken home side ahead and after Argyle thought they had equalised, Tristan Plummer scored 13 minutes from time to seal a morale-boosting win.

Irish international left-back Damien Delaney proved to be the matchwinner for QPR as the wealthy Championship side beat League One Swindon 3-2 after extra time.

Charlton fell at home to League One Yeovil, losing 1-0 to Paul Warne’s 28th minute goal at the Valley.

Another third tier side, Crewe, came out on top against Championship visitors Barnsley with a 2-0 win.

Michael O’Connor scored from the spot to put the Railwaymen in front in the 14th minute. Another penalty, this time by Anthony Elding, made it 2-0.

Sam Baldock’s first-half goal gave Roberto Di Matteo’s MK Dons a 1-0 win over Norwich while Reading won 2-1 away at Dagenham and Redbridge thanks to Irishman Noel Hunt’s late winner.

QPR came out on top at Swindon, winning a topsy-turvy match 3-2 thanks to Republic of Ireland defender Damien Delaney’s 54th-minute winner.

Wolves escaped a humiliating defeat by League Two minnows Accrington at Molineux as they came from behind to win 3-2 in extra-time.

Mick McCarthy’s side had trailed to Paul Mullin’s first-half strike but Chris Iwelumo scored twice and after Ian Craney had levelled, Mark Davies got the winner.
