Mourinho not in frame, say DIC
It had been claimed that Dubai International Capital held conversations with the former Chelsea manager, in a repeat of the scenario which saw Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Liverpool’s co-owners, hold discussions with Jurgen Klinsmann over the manager’s job at Anfield.
But sources at DIC have denied that they have ever “offered the job to Mourinho, or met him to discuss it” while the group has also contacted a number of Liverpool fans’ groups including the recently formed Spirit of Shankly organisation, to deny speculation over Mourinho.
It is believed DIC have been contacted twice by intermediaries for Mourinho suggesting a meeting, but the offer has not been taken up because they are happy with the job Benitez is doing.
Mourinho, meanwhile, last night claimed he wanted to take a job in Spain, with Real Madrid or Barcelona.
