Vidic ruled out for three vital games

MANCHESTER UNITED defender Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for two or three weeks with a knee injury.

The Serbia international was forced out of Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at Roma after falling awkwardly half an hour into the game.

His withdrawal sparked fears of a long-term absence but a scan yesterday showed the problem not to be as serious as first thought.

Vidic will miss Sunday’s Barclays Premier League trip to Middlesbrough, Wednesday’s Champions League return against Roma and the following weekend’s league clash with Arsenal.
