Moyes out for revenge on Viola
It means they have it all to do at Goodison Park tonight if a place in the quarter-finals is to be secured.
Said Moyes: “I have never stopped thinking about possible scenarios since that first-leg game.
“I did not sleep after the match but hopefully we can put into practice something that makes us play better against them tomorrow.
“It was a bit strange over there and we did not play as well as we can.
“It means we now have a big task but one that can be overcome.”
Moyes is keen to reward the supporters as he felt they were badly let down by their hosts in Florence.
He said: “Our fans have been terrific in all our games in Europe. In the main they have been treated very well but I was disappointed at what happened in Italy.
“They tend to put away supporters in a pen in the corner. It is hardly worth paying if that is what you get.
“Maybe that is why there are so many empty stadiums in Italy.
“I thought our fans were treated quite shabbily and hopefully we can give them something to shout about.”
With Everton going toe-to-toe with Liverpool for a Champions League place, the feeling in the camp is the result in Italy was a one-off. Certainly the team have been domestically sound with seven clean sheets in nine games.
Midfielder Lee Carsley comes into contention after a one-match ban saw him sit out the game at Sunderland.
And Moyes believes the Ireland international is one of their unsung heroes.
“Lee gives us a bit of stability in the middle of the park. He can do one or two jobs for us,” said the Everton boss.
“He is reliable and what you need are reliable players. He might not be the most flash player but he does a job for the team.”
