Keane pays tribute to ‘outstanding’ Murphy

SUNDERLAND boss Roy has paid tribute to one of his unsung heroes after seeing him play a major role in the club’s revival.

Republic of Ireland international Daryl Murphy has emerged as a key member of Keane’s side in recent weeks as the Black Cats have put together a run of excellent home form to drag themselves out of the immediate fight for Premier League survival.

The Black Cats sit in 14th place in the table ahead of Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth, only four points clear of the drop zone but having put together a run of five victories from their last seven league games at the Stadium of Light.
