IRELAND’S goalkeeper, Shay Given, couldn’t help but have another go at the drawn-out process to appoint the new Ireland manager in the aftermath last night’s defeat to Brazil.

Despite insisting he didn’t want to talk about the obvious, a pretty downbeat Given couldn’t find the benefits of the exercise without a manager, as he won his 86th cap at Croke Park.

He could only look as Robinho curled a cheeky shot past him in front of a bumper crowd and he showed his frustration in the bowels of the Hogan Stand.
