Laser quest for Blues

CHELSEA will seek to tighten security in their away section after a West Ham supporter repeatedly dazzled Didier Drogba with a laser pen during Saturday’s London derby.

Laser quest for Blues

The Ivory Coast striker reported to the fourth official Steve Tanner that a fan was trying to distract him by shining a green light into his eyes.

Drogba, who later called the incident “a bit of fun”, made his complaint mid-way through the first half and stewards and police were immediately dispatched to confiscate the item.

Chelsea are embarrassed by the incident, particularly as it occurred at their own stadium, and will place security officers on red or even green alert for the visit of Sunderland next Saturday in an effort to avoid a repeat. “I don’t know quite what happened, except that it did happen,” manager Avram Grant said.

“Obviously it was not sporting but it is not my job to stop this from happening — that is down to other people.”
