Slovaks finish on a high

SLOVAKIA rounded off their Group D campaign with a resounding win over minnows San Marino.

Lubomir Michalak opened the scoring three minutes before half-time before the floodgates opened in the second half for the visitors.

Filip Holosko and Marek Hamsik both scored in the second half before Marek Cech’s late brace.

The home side could have taken a surprise lead when Andy Selva’s free kick in the fifth minute hit the bar.

Michalik opened the scoring after 42 minutes, heading in a Jan Kozak cross.

Six minutes after the break Filip Holosko made it two, heading home a Hamsik corner. Two minutes later Hamsik added a third when he scored from 20 yards.

Cech turned home Kozak’s 57th-minute cross from 12 yards to make it four and Cech completed his double with an 83rd minute goal.
