Benitez won’t make Pennant pay penalty for Porto red card

LIVERPOOL manager Rafael Benitez is expected to give winger Jermaine Pennant the opportunity to show he has learned from his mistakes after getting sent off in midweek.

Pennant was dismissed in Tuesday’s Champions League 1-1 draw with Porto after two yellow cards after a series of poor tackles, although throughout the match he maintained a verbal battle with the referee.

However, the former Birmingham player is expected to play against his former club at Anfield today, a match which Daniel Agger and Xabi Alonso will miss after both broke metatarsals in the last week.
